AMD publishes Opteron socket specifications

AMD's latest move to get firms thinking seriously about their co-processor initiative is to publish the specs for the Opteron socket. Torrenza will be an "open-source socket," if you will. This is a big first step...

"By publishing the specification, AMD is making it easier for chip makers to design processors that just snap into an AMD motherboard, rather than being connected via a system bus or some other manner."
