Here we go with a trio of stories this morning with their roots in Linux. First up, SuSE Linux Enterprise Desktop, or SLED, as it's been affectionately coined, has won "best of show" at LinuxWorld San Fran this year. Not only best of show, but "best desktop solution" as well. Sounds like the penguins have chosen a distro to represent the movement... Next, the RedHerring has posted an exclusive interview with Linus Torvalds, to be published next Monday in their print edition. The interview covers Torvalds' thoughts on how Linux is progressing, especially with regards to its penetration of the commercial & enterprise desktop markets. Finally, an article over at InternetNews ponders the question of why Linux-based OSs are so much more successful/popular compared to their BSD-based cousins these days. Their reasoning? "Overcontrol." |
