Streaming RealAudio From a Commodore 64
Monday, 15 April 2002

No, it's not a type-o.  Apparently a couple of REALLY board C64 hackers managed to throw together a couple of ethernet adapters for their Commodore 64 machines, and stuck one on the internet.  Not only is it running TCP/IP stacks AND a web server, but they some how managed to shoehorn a RealAudio server onto it and is streaming audio from the C64's cassette drive, which I hear sounds TERRIBLE.  If this excites you, they've posted the source code and some pics of the C64 server.

I'm going to go laugh hysterically for a while now.

M.U.L.E. Reborn
Monday, 15 April 2002

Those of you who are old enough to remember the classic 80's game M.U.L.E. for the Atari & Commodore 64 will get a kick out of this.  Shrapnel Games has announced that it will publish Space HoRSE, a strategy game created by Gilligames and inspired by the classic game M.U.L.E.. Players undertake a mission to create a self-sufficient colony on a remote planet. They must use their holistic robotic slave engineer, or "HoRSE," to harvest the resources of their new planet--food, power, titanium, and zirconium--and build a successful colony.

Gawd I remember my parents playing M.U.L.E. when I was but a wee lad.  You can read more about it and see some screenshots over at GameSpot.
