Written by t-readyroc
Wednesday, 11 July 2007

Hopefully this morning you noticed that AutomaticUpdate did its job & now your workstation's nice & happy with the latest patches... because there were eleven of 'em. Yeah, that's right; eight of which were deemed "critical." Your job's not done, though, because this time you've got server's to reset as well...

"The hack, which is believed to have gone undetected for two years, netted details on over 6,000 staff who had taught at the university from 1990 to August 2003."

Unbreakable encryption based on quantum mechanics. Mind-blowing stuff here, folks, & the European Space Agency's funding it for satellite communication.

"The degree of change in the state of the paired photons is completely random and unpredictable, according to ESA, theoretically foiling any attempt by a third party to decode the message without actually intercepting the quantum encryption key."
