DigiTimes has the full-coverage story. We'll see mid-range (4670/50), followed by entry-level (4550) cards from AMD this month, & they're still on track to get their first 45nm chips out the door before the end of the year. Fudzilla's got the english run-down on ASUS' 4670 offering plus a link to the original story which includes a photo. Non-reference cooling & HDMI in store. Graphics processing on the cheap, anyone? |

Not only are they PCI, but they're low-profile & have an HDMI out. HTPC-bound, I'd say. The only deal-braker would be whether or not those fans they've got are of the Dust Buster variety.
"While the appeal of the PCI8600GT-256X, the PCI8500GT-256X and the PCI8400GS-256 may not be obvious for anyone who has a PCI Express or even AGP slot on their motherboard, there are still quite a few systems (particularly small form factor or HTPC ones) where expansion options are limited, creating an niche market for these cards."

There are a bunch of other info slides at the link as well, but none of them really say more than we already know. The card's a long one, with both 6- & 8-pin power connectors.

Citing unnamed sources, DigiTimes is reporting that the X2 version of the card currently taking the mainstream by storm will be available at the end of August for around $499.
"Evaluation samples are schedule to be available in mid-July, and AMD will begin shipping reference design boards with 2GB GDDR5 memory at the end of the month, the sources detailed."
