Steve over at Hexus points out the disappearance of ati.com, the upcoming push for a unified GPGPU, & the accompanying open platforms that we'll be seeing over the next couple of years. Fusion's definitely going to cause quite a stir...

As expected, the new quad-core Intel chips making their way into retail here shortly will be at or just below the $1K mark. Might be a good time to snap up some of the Core 2's...

"Intel's first quad-core desktop processor, the Core 2 Extreme QX6700, which is scheduled to be released next month, will sell for US$999 in 1,000-unit quantities, according to sources at Taiwan motherboard makers who are familiar with Intel's latest roadmap. The Core 2 Quad Q6600 processor will be available in January 2007 at US$851, the sources added."
