The wrath of the purple dino's legal team
Written by t-readyroc
Tuesday, 18 October 2005

This is hilarious. I can't believe that there are legal teams out there with the time & resources to go on crusades like this... oh wait.... yes I can :-/

"One of the ostensibly violent sites, a site maintained by Baltimore-area programmer Rob Carlson, depicts a Barney toy suspended from the ceiling. Carlson, who has not removed the photograph, says it has been online for at least five years and nobody has complained before."

World of Warcraft EULA-condoned spyware?
Written by t-readyroc

Wow... this is crazy stuff. I certainly wouldn't put it beyond any company to do it, but the fact that it's actually complying with a EULA that you agree to when you run the game is definitely a twist I bet no one saw coming...

"I watched the warden sniff down the email addresses of people I was communicating with on MSN, the URL of several websites that I had open at the time, and the names of all my running programs, including those that were minimized or in the toolbar. These strings can easily contain social security numbers or credit card numbers, for example, if I have Microsoft Excel or Quickbooks open w/ my personal finances at the time."

Sony recalls slimline PS2 power adapters
Written by t-readyroc
Tuesday, 13 September 2005

3.5 million defective parts? That sounds pretty bad. I seriously hope that some little kid somewhere doesn't inadvertently burn his house down because of this one. WTG Sony.

"In the United States, Sony received 38 reports of the adapters overheating, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. There were two reports of minor burns, one minor shock and four reports of minor property damage, the agency said."

6.8GHz 2TB diskless quantum laptop in January?
Written by t-readyroc
Wednesday, 07 September 2005

Um, holy crap. Anyone think this guy can actually pull this off, or is this another Phantom Console debacle? Check out the link on the OSNews page. The company has photos & screen shots of a working notebook... it's going to be mind-blowing if it's true...

"Intel, AMD, IBM and all other chipmakers are doomed. In any case, that's the case if you were to believe the claims made by the Atom Chip Corporation, 'which maintains it will show off a 2TB diskless notebook based on a 6.8GHz 'quantum-optical' microprocessor at next January's Consumer Electronics Show.'"
