Google Calendar makes its debut
Written by t-readyroc

Google calendar launched last night. I just uploaded my Outlook calendar into it very easily. Go to your Outlook & export a year's worth of data (can't do recurrences) into a .csv file. Then, go to calendar.google.com, login with your gmail id and set your date/time preferences. Finally, go to the settings link (upper-right corner), then to the "Import Calendar" area. Upload your .csv, & you're done. Pretty sweet to have something like this for backup, even though I'll likely not use it much since I can get to my calendar on my SX-66 more easily when I'm on the road...

The cars have eyes!

Are we getting closer to cars driving themselves? How sweet would that be? Cruise control would take on a whole new meaning, that's for sure. Stories like this one certainly point in this direction...

"The EyeQ chip and application software suite includes lane, vehicle and pedestrian detection and intelligent headlight control. The applications cover a wide range of driver assistance and active safety applications that are expected to be in production between 2007 and 2010."

Batteries made from viruses?

Crazy stuff. What will they think of next?

"The team, led by MIT professors Angela Belcher, Paula Hammond and Yet-Ming Chiang, genetically modified a virus so that it attracts cobalt oxide and gold, and assembled the metals into ultra-thin wires just six nanometres in diameter."

Dothan 780 under liquid nitrogen at Madshrimps

The Madshrimps fire up Intel's Dothan 780 & put it under some good ol' LN2 cooling to see just how high they can get it to run without burning a hole through their floor.

"At -190°C you might be surprised how high you can overclock a CPU, with a few liters of Liquid Nitrogen to spare we poured it over a Pentium M 780 to see how high it would soar. Of course we don't want to destroy our hardware so we'll show you how to prevent condensation to save your hardware from failure."
