Overclocking, the natural way; at Phoronix
Written by t-readyroc

The Phoronix guys have used the recent bout of cold weather to do something a bit unusual: a bit of overclocking . Neither of those activities are unusual in & of themselves, but using one to accomplish the other... now that's interesting!

"However, we took this opportunity to make the best of it with natural sub-zero overclocking. With the Abit AW9D i975X motherboard, an Intel Pentium 4 processor, 2GB of OCZ's Flex XLC PC2-9200 memory, and cooling provided by Mother Nature, we set off on a spontaneous overclocking adventure."

Sweet mods

Couple of cool mods to take a gander at today; maybe even inspire ya. First up, the guys at Madshrimps have posted a worklog of a modder who took his Tt Kandalf case to the next level with a light show & front-mounted LCD. The gif at the end is worth every minute of work on that one. The next one's for any aspiring musicians out there, & it comes to us from the Metku guys. One of their readers modded his Casio keyboard, which, of course, he's got connected to his PC for studio work. Nice metallic finish.

Nintendo DS homebrew how-to at MetkuMods

The crafty guys at MetkuMods show you how to unlock the full potential of your NintendoDS. They show you how to boot your DS with different flash cards that allow you to do things like play movies or use your DS like a PDA. Coolness.

"Like with so many other gaming consoles, portable or more stationary ones, Nintendo DS functionality can be enchanced by using additional pieces of hardware and software. Why just play with a gaming console when it can deliver a whole lot more?"

High-resolution projector inside your cell phone?

How cool would something like this be? I've seen those uber-small projectors before, but having one inside your smartphone would be awesome. Huge applications for everything from business presentations to entertainment...

"Microvision said the image produced by its solutions is extremely sharp and vivid whether being projected to view an image the size of a notebook screen or further away to view an image the size of a large-size PDP (plasma display panel) TV."
