NVIDIA's next Forceware at the Inq
Written by t-readyroc
Tuesday, 19 July 2005

The Inq-well's got the goods on the next round of Forceware drivers, which they're reporting, will be released tomorrow. They're saying that this newest iteration of the driver pack will bring with it support for bridgelss SLi.

"There are the usual bug fixes, the 'VR-Zone Overcooling' one is a biggie for the lunatic fringe overclocker set, the overbright video bug is a good one for everyone, and widescreen under SLi is fixed, or fixed in all but a few cases. Not a bad haul for the bug hunters this time."

Hexus has the scoop on ATi's upcoming AiW release for the X800 series: the AiW X800XL. They say that we can expect to see its release before the Summer's over.

"ATI instead decided to take their first X800 All-In-Wonder on PCI Express in a slightly different direction. Using R430 in X800 XL configuration, the new All-In-Wonder has features over and above those of the AGP version."

HP's new "extreme" printers at Designtechnica

I'm sorry... I just don't see how printing can be "extreme." Sky-diving? Sure. Motocross? Yeah, I can see that. Printing? C'mon now... However, faster inkjet printers are definitely not a bad thing. Only thing I could see using an inkjet for is photo printing, though...

"At fourteen seconds per 4x6” photo print, the product is twice as fast as previous generations of printers. This speed improvement also holds for regular text, generally outputting a page at twice the price and half the cost of the older generation of printers."

DFI's crossfire board benchmarked at Hexus
Written by t-readyroc
Wednesday, 06 July 2005

Hexus has an exclusive peak at the newest board from DFI sporting ATi's crossfire technology. They've got benchmarks up, & I'm thinking that ~650 points behind a pair of 7800GTX's ain't all that shabby for a pair of X850XT's... that is, you know, if you're into the whole synthetic benchmark thing ;)

"Using Supertiling, the default mode for Crossfire under Direct3D, shows that 6800 Ultra SLI is faster. However that's just in 3DMark05, not a modern game title, and that's using a beta driver that might not be there in terms of the performance that ATI have today, internally. It'll be interesting to see where performance is when Crossfire is launched using an official driver, along with NVIDIA hardware running any new driver that NVIDIA may or may not have planned for their hardware."
