QuakeCon 2007 announced
Written by t-readyroc
Tuesday, 19 December 2006

The QuakeCon site has put up their official announcement for QCon '07. It'll be held in Dallas, yet again. They've got a group rate setup for rooms & parking, so get your reservations in soon if you want in on the discount.

"This year’s BYOC Area will consume the entire Trinity Hall 1, with over 70,000 square feet of floor space and 2,700 player spots – over 1,000 more seats than 2006. We’ve also increased the exhibit area 5X to 25,000 square feet, enough to accommodate up to 50 exhibitors demonstrating their latest games and computer hardware."

I'd hope that ET:QW would be out by then...

In response to the thousands of Wii-mote mishaps that've been plaguing enthusiastic gamers by recalling every single Wii-mote that's been sold, & re-issuing a re-designed version for free.

"Nintendo will allow customers to exchange their failure-prone wrist straps with a new beefier strap that is about double the thickness of the original."

There's a video making the rounds today that some are claiming is footage from CoD 4. It turns out, however, that Infinity Ward has categorically denied that they've got anything to do with it. The video is seven minutes long, & you can find more details about it on the 502nd site. What I want to know is, if it's not CoD 4, then what is it, & who's making it?

Vietnamese RPG'ers under the government heel

Rough times ahead for Vietnamese MMORPG players. I suppose, though, that there's really nothing that you can do when your time online is in the hands of whoever runs the internet cafe (which, in Vietnam, is the man).

"Altogether 13 separate online games from the six companies will be shut down by the end of the year, according to local press reports. At least one was told to turn off its servers today. Another has been ordered to immediately restrict playing time to five hours per day for each player."
