That's right, kiddies. Less than a month to go before you too can find out how badly Crysis will destroy your rig. C'mooooooooon AM2+ boards...

"The demo will consist of the entire first level in Crysis’ single player campaign, 'Contact,' giving gamers first-hand chance to experience the open-ended level design and a chance to put their PC hardware to the test."

Bioshock official widescreen fix in the works; SecuROM installs updated

In case you haven't been following the news, the Bioshock release hasn't been all kittens & sunshine for everyone. There have been SecuROM issues, & people are complaining about Bioshock's widescreen implementation. Well, it seems that 2KGames have been listening, & it looks like they're taking the forums postings to heart. Not only that, but the guy from the widescreengaming forums who put out the unofficial FOV patch is getting a free 8800 for his efforts. Kudos to 2KGames for listening & staying on top of things enough to keep their users happy.

Bioshock now available on Steam

Bioshock's officially activated on Steam. If you pre-loaded the game, you can now play it, no wait required. If you haven't checked it out yet, definitely hit up the demo. Also don't forget to use the beta nVidia drivers or the AMD/ATi hotfix.

I played through the demo on my rig using the latest official nVidia drivers (162.18). I used a combination of high settings at 1600X900 & got 30-60fps. I'm doubting that the beta drivers will improve my performance all that much, but I don't really intend to buy the game anytime soon; even though the demo was pretty kick-ass.

Looks like PC gamers will finally be able to own match up against their console adversaries in cross-platform play on UT3 thanks to GameSpy. All five hundred of those PS3 owners, anyway.

"The partnership will span both the PC and PlayStation 3 platforms within Unreal Engine 3, enabling PlayStation 3 and PC online functionality. This feature, along with communication tools and competition applications, will also be available to Unreal Engine 3 licensees."
