Lara Croft Outfit Auctioned Online for Charity
Monday, 29 April 2002

Lara Croft fans from around the world are rejoicing, Eidos is auctioning off the original Lara Croft outfit worn by Nell McAndrew, who modeled it as Lara Croft in '98 & '99.  The 10 day bidding, launched on eBay (www.ebay.co.uk), reached $1,857 by this morning..  The outfit has hardly been worn, and has been retired, making it even more collectible.  A new outfit was unveiled last month by the new Lara Croft model, Jill de Jong.  Everything you've ever seen Lara wear has been included, the green rubber all-in-one vest, military-style shorts, trademark leather holsters and replica pistols.  For grins they also threw in Lara's circular sunglasses, calf-length socks and backpack.  The auction wil run until this Sunday, with proceeds going to UNICEF.

Oh, the person who wins this and wants to try it on better have the body of a super model, the rubber vest, for example, has to be inched into place using talcum powder..  Or a little petro jelly, whichever you prefer.

Gamespot to launch ''GameSpot Complete''
Saturday, 27 April 2002
GameSpot is one of the many once totally free information sites out there to implement a pay service in order to stay alive.  Beginning in May, GameSpot Complete will launch, giving those who pay the $4.95 a month or $19.95 a year (introductory rate, after August 31st it jumps to $24.95 a year) complete access to all of GameSpots content, unlimited high speed downloads, unlimited streaming video, and a version of the site with "no invasive ads--no banners, pop-ups, pop-unders, superstitials, prestitials, or interstitials"(try saying that 3 times real fast).  They will continue to offer the GameSpot Basic version to us cheapos, with access to all content, screenshots, hints, review scores, news, etc.  The only real catch appears to be there will be no streaming video available for GameSpot Basic, due to rising bandwidth costs.  You can get the full details of GameSpot Basic and GameSpot complete here.
