AA tweak guide
Written by Benjamin A. Hunter
Thursday, 16 January 2003

For fans of America's Army, here is something you might want to take a look at.

...this guide will take you through configuring the game for an optimum performance on your system, better network play and fixing other issues that might arise.

A lot of my HSMA clan buddies have switched from UT Infiltration over to America's Army, touting good graphics, gameplay and action. I have yet to try this game as BF1942 keeps me busy, but the ever-increasing AA community is nothing to shake a stick, or an M16, at.

Epic introduces UT2003 updated dedicated server files - WOOHOO!!
Written by Benjamin A. Hunter

The files offered are for running a dedicated server using only an executable and some data files, apparently without having to do the whole 3-CD installation. A free CD-KEY is available by emailing Epic.

Files can be found here. At 247MB this is quite a download, but if you have a dialup connection you can obtain a CD containing the files as well.

I haven't had a chance to try this installation but will post a review when I have.

Aquanox 2 demo released
Written by Benjamin A. Hunter
Saturday, 04 January 2003

For those who enjoyed the fantastic graphics and gameplay of the first one, here is the page where you can download the 230MB demo of the second. Although the page is in German, Google does a pretty good job of translating it.

This version contains the Intro in original quality and the complete first chapter of the play. Altogether seven missions are available in the Story and a mission with the single missions. The size of the Downloads amounts to 380 MT .

There are also some screenshots and an intro that you can download. From the looks of the screenshots, the graphics on this one might uphold Aquanox's reputation as being the cutting-edge of what games are capable of showing. At least until Doom3 and Unreal II come out that is.

Interesting to note that multiplayer is listed as not being supported. Those of us may remember that this was a problem with the first Aquanox as well when it was released.

Too-violent football?
Written by Benjamin A. Hunter
Saturday, 04 January 2003

You've probably seen the ads -- runner on second base delivers an uppercut to the second-baseman. Defensive end spears the running back to the point of breaking him in two.

What the heck? Is this the WWF version of our national pastimes?

Well, Midway's NFL Blitz has gotten the attention of the NFL in a not-so-friendly way. This Wired article sheds some light on the hornet's nest that Midway has stirred up. I think that while GTA3 and Vice City are o.k. in their tongue-in-cheek violent ways, these games go a little too far.

What do you think?
