Don't forget the N-Gage - two new games released
Written by treadyroc
Thursday, 31 March 2005

I'd imagine that game development for handhelds will be a hot field in the coming months. Looks like Nokia's stepping it up just in time to try to steal some of PSP's thunder.

"Nokia announced on March 31 that it has started shipping Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Chaos Theory.... Fans can also download a fan pack from the N-Gage Arena site. The company also stated that N-Gage Arena members can download a free exclusive demo of the mutant action adventure RPG X-Men Legends at the N-Gage website."

Doom3 for the Mac this Saturday

Well, I guess it didn't take all that long, I can't really see this as being a major priority. What I wanna see now, though, are the benchmarks. Should be entertaining.

"Aspyr Media, a specialist in converting Windows games to run on Macs, announced on Monday that a version of the popular shooting game for Apple's OS X operating system will go on sale March 19."

Dirty Harry to hit console games this year

Tuesday, 01 March 2005

The AfterDawn crew has dug up a juicy tidbit predicting the game's release on the Xbox2 & PS3 this year & next year.

"So far very little information is available about the project, and even the game genre remains a secret. Personally I would be a little disappointed if Harry turns into a regular console shooting gallery. If you think about the original Dirty Harry -movie, it was not the amount of shooting and killing that made it such a thrilling experience. It was the anticipation, and growing intensity of the film, which was boosted by bits of brutal violence here are there -- but not constantly."

Steam issues at ipKonfig
Thursday, 20 January 2005

Seems I'm not the only one who's had issues with Steam & the HL2/CS:S release. Scott over at ipKonfig shares his thoughts on the Steam application & its merits (or lack thereof).

"Steam is Valve's way of trying to control the copyright issues abroad, and with good reason. The internet has brought good and evil for publishing. Software is easily distributed across the internet and easily downloaded by those who know where to find it. So Valve's main concern was to protect its ‘new car' from thieves. Well, ok, cool; -- however . . ."
