Written by t-readyroc

FPS gaming on the Mac? What next? Looks like the company Aspyr is preparing to launch the Call of Duty 2 title right along side the Mac Intel...

"At the bottom of an ad for Call of Duty: Deluxe Edition, a small advertisement for Call of Duty 2 boasts that the game will be, 'Coming Soon'. This all but confirms that the first-person shooter will be coming to the Mac."

News from the gaming world

Gaming news for your multiple days off this holiday season's always a good thing, & there seems to be plenty of it this morning. Two of the bits of news this morning are from Valve. They've released a Day of Defeat: Source update that includes a list of over thirty fixes and changes. If you're playing DoD:S, you'll see it next time you start your steam client. The second news item from Valve this morning is pretty big stuff: they've developed a 64-bit version of the Source game engine. Yep, that's right, Valve is making a foray into the 64-bit arena. Games running on a 64-bit chip & OS will see some pretty decent performance increases, I'd imagine...

Fileshack is hosting the latest Call of Duty 2 patch. The patch brings the current version up to 1.01, & includes performance enhancements for gamers with multi-processor, dual-core or HT rigs.

Last but not least, DICE is promising some new toys for you BF2 fans out there. There will be add-on packs available for the game that will include new vehicles, new weapons, and new maps. I'm sure that if you're in a BF2 league, these packs will eventually be required for play, which isn't too terribly bad, because they're only going to be $9.99 each.

PSP's evaluated for El Al flights

The next time you fly El Al, you might be able to get a PSP from the flight attendant. I could definitely see this kind of thing spreading, because it's got to be cheaper to buy a bunch of PSPs than to install those personal movie screens in the back of each of those plane seats...

"The addition of the new Sony PSP is part of EL ALs continuing investment in technology and improving its flight entertainment offering. This new product will be trialed on 20 flights over the Christmas and New Year period to evaluate its popularity with passengers."
