Bose iPod rival launch Thursday?

Speculation abounds in this CTZ bit about what they're hearing will be a product launch by Bose this Thursday. Will it be the touch-screen iPod? Or will it be Bose's own player? Churn on, rumor mill...

"We further queried and asked if it was Bose who was making the announcement or one of its partners, which includes Apple Computer, Inc. Interestingly enough, we were given intriguing smiles (a way of marketers to lead people unofficially in the right direction) after we presented the question."

 
Intel's Pro platform at the Inq

The Inq is talking about Intel's next platform, which they've heard through the grapvine will be dubbed "Pro." So this is what all the Skype & Intel hoopla have been about. It doesn't look like you'll even have an interest in this one, though, unless you're running a huge corporation.

"First off, it may have a name, but it is not on any literature we've seen yet, and is aimed at larger installations. If you have a tiny shop, it probably will do you a lot less good than if you have 10,000 machines at your beck and call."

 
AM2 chips for sale by June 6th?

It's officially AM2, & you'll officially (un-officially?) be able to buy it by June 6th. Wonder how many people out there have their fingers hovering over the "place order" button...

"All of the dual core performance, mainstream and extreme gaming versions of the AM2 CPUs will sample by the end of this month. The production of these socket AM2 based CPUs or revision F is scheduled for April 30th while the channel orders will begin on May the 15th."

GoogleTalk & Picasa for Linux

DesktopLinux is reporting that two very popular Google apps, GoogleTalk & Picasa, will be making their way to the Linux platform in the near future. Picasa will run via a modified Wine distribution, created by a third party developer. GTalk is being developed directly within Google.
