Written by Benjamin A. Hunter
Wednesday, 17 December 2003

The Inquirer is hearing that Windows for Opteron is delayed yet again - this time back to around April of 2004.  The culprit?  XP Service Pack 2...

"Our information is that a significant amount of Microsoft development resources has been switched to focusing on rolling out Windows XP Service Pack 2, and this seems to be shaping up to be one of the most significant Service Packs that Microsoft has released."

Intel switching to AMD?!?
Written by Andrew
Monday, 15 December 2003

Intel is getting in on the good stuff, that being Quad Opteron Servers from Appro.

"SOURCES SAID that Intel has bought a number of Opteron based servers from Appro, and that AMD knows about it. The 4U four way servers from Appro, a system builder, are part of AMD's validated service programme out of Celestica."

Hehe, this is kind of funny, but if I start seeing 940 pin Xeons, I am gonna be pissed!

AMD to announce Athlon64 3000+
Friday, 12 December 2003

The Inq-well is running a piece on the soon-to-be-released Athlon 64 3000+. Yep, you read that right, 3000+. They're putting a chip on the market that's a bit slower, & consequently cheaper. Only question now is, how well does this baby o/c?!??

"...current Athlon64 3200+ can be found for about $400 -- give or take a few. This new chip will be a little more than half that when it debuts, most likely on December 15, but that could still change by a few days. Look for the price to be less than $225..."

EEEEEEEeeeeiiinteresting....
