10 gigabit ethernet to be mainstream in three years?

ComputerWorld thinks that 10gigE will be mainstream enough by 2010 that most offices will be running it as their primary network. At that time, they predict that fibre channel will have lost its price advantage, & 10gigE will move in to take its place.

"But there's one thing everyone agrees on: 10 Gigabit Ethernet will bring major changes to the way organizations buy and manage their storage networks."

Oh man. This would totally annoy the F out of me. Thank gawd I don't run my phone in the prescribed mode...

Best extensions for Thunderbird 2.0 at XYZComputing

The XYZ guys have a quick write-up on what they feel are the best extensions for Mozilla's new email client, Thunderbird 2.0. I'm personally just a bit ticked that Plaxo hasn't finished their extension for 2.0 yet >:(

"Between these changes and my general requirement of using as few extensions as possible I have found that Thunderbird does not need many extensions to get it set up properly. There are a few excellent ones out there that everyone should know about."

 
Vonage launches voicemail transcription service

Not many details, as you need an account to get more information, but the service is now operational. I'd imagine your voicemails would get sent to you via email? They're calling it Vonage Text, & it looks like it might be text messages in addition to emails.

"It would explain why a hosted PBX company like M5 has recently started offering voicemail transcription as well. Perhaps this signals Vonage pushing more into the SMB space and leaving some of the consumer marketing behind?"
