Yahoo Mindset
Written by WiLD
Saturday, 28 May 2005
Seems Google isn't the only one with a neat little lab.  The guys over at Yahoo! are playing with a rather cool tool they're calling Mindset...

At first glance the search results provided look like your average Yahoo! serps, but with an adjustment of a slidebar you can sort the results to your 'mindset' - in this case, your mindset can be either shopping or researching.

I played around with this a bit, and quite frankly I think the algo they're using needs a fair amount of tweaking.  Maybe a few additional mindsets and the ability to tweak each a bit would provide more accurate results.  Overall, though, the idea isn't bad at all.

Intel chipset shortage continues?

Thursday, 26 May 2005

Apparently there are some questions about the current supply of Intel chipsets available to motherboard manufacturers. DigiTimes is reporting that Intel's sticking to the story that there is a sufficient supply, though. Nothing like a shortage to drive up prices....

"Ever since late 2004, the shadow of an Intel chipset shortage has hovered over the motherboard industry. Although Intel now claims the situation has improved, motherboard makers still claim they expect to see a 20-30% shortage this quarter."

Fernando over at the Inq-well's got a list of his most-used extensions up for your perusing pleasure. If you're a Mozilla user, you'll definitely want to give this list the ol' once-over.

"Here is a personal list (in no particular order) of the 'must have' extensions that can be installed on top of both Mozilla Suite 1.7.x and Netscape 7.2. I hope some of you find them of interest."
