Interview with Symbian OS developer at EETimes

The guys at EETimes sit down with the developer of Symbian OS for a few words. Interesting stuff here.

"Nicholas (Colly) Myers, the developer of the Symbian operating system, was a pioneering programmer for U.K. handheld-computer company Psion plc in the 1980s. In the 1990s, he became chief executive officer of Symbian Software Ltd., the Psion subsidiary that provided a series of operating systems for the mobile-phone industry."

 
Spike in DDR2 demand on the way?

If you're not on a DDR2 platform now, will you move to one when AMD intro's their Socket M2 processors early next year? DigiTimes thinks so, & is talking about DDR2 demand for 1Q '06. Maybe they'll have actually figured out the latencies by then...

"Demand for DDR2 is expected to rise phenomenally in the first quarter 2006, when the introduction of Socket M2 processors from Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) kicks off and shipments of the Intel 945-series platform increases, motherboard makers believe."

The XYZ gang has posted an interview with Tony Bove, the author of, "Just Say No to Microsoft," an upcoming book that points readers to alternatives to the MS "way of life."

"With this book Bove intends to help readers rid Microsoft from their life- this is easier said that done, but it is certainly possible. The book goes on to list alternatives to the Microsoft programs on which people have become dependent and probably think they cannot give up."

 
Kingston factory tour at HardwareSecrets

The HardwareSecrets gang recently had the privelege of getting a tour of the Kingston factory in Fountain Valley, CA. Kingston's one of those household brands that's been around forever...

"Kingston has several factories around the world, and we visited its smallest factory in Fountain Valley, California, USA. On the other hand, in this factory is where research and development is conducted and we had the chance to visiting some of their R&D testing labs."
