SuperSpeed USB 3.0 info at the Inq
Written by t-readyroc
Wednesday, 19 December 2007

The Inq has a good write-up on "SuperSpeed" USB 3.0, what makes it different from 2.0 (besides the speed - CPU overhead, anyone?), & when we can expect to see it. Good stuff.

"4.8 Gbps minus polling overhead and so on - well we could get some 300 MB/s net speed out of such thingie - let's say a large external parallel Flash-based SSD drive here."

C|Net VP to conduct investigation into Gamespot issue

Kotaku's got it on good authority that the editors for Gamespot's parent site, C|Net are getting a bit antsy waiting for a public statement from their site about the whole Gamespot editor firing business. They've also heard that a C|Net VP, who's also the Editor-in-Chief has been directed to conduct an internal investigation into "Gamespot policies." Very interesting indeed.

One step closer to perpetual motion

Let's just hope this story ends very differently from the last one about a perptual motion machine that made the rounds on the inter-tubes. It looks like one couldn't even make the comparison between the Orbo & this 'superfluidity' demonstration. Predicted by Einstein even. Crazy stuff.

"NIST predicts that eventually it will harness the quantum effects of superfluidity for the frictionless motion of matter, much like the frictionless motion of electrons in superconductors. Such superfluids could enable NIST to build ultra-sensitive navigation sensors not possible using classical materials."

Newegg's Cyber Monday hangover
Written by t-readyroc
Friday, 30 November 2007

Looks like all did not go as planned with Newegg's latest promotion, which apparently gave you 20% cash back from any purchase on their site using PayPal. They cancelled the promotion early, leaving some customers wondering what happened.

"And thus the mass confusion began. Customers began inquiring if their order made the cut and if they would be receiving their 20 percent PayPal bonus."
