University of Connecticut bans p2p apps

Looks like UConn has gone the way of Big Brother on this one. I wonder if they were genuinely having network performance issues, or if this is just a CYA measure?

"As of the fall semester, all p2p programs will be blocked by default on the UConn network, and users will have to ask if theywant to use them, 'for a short amount of time'."

The guys over at [H] console have posted an interview with Mark Frohnmayer, the President & co-founder of GarageGames, the company behind the wildly popular Marble Blast series and the new Xbox Live exclusive, Marble Blast Ultra.

"The sales of MBU continue to outpace even our most optimistic predictions. I think this is amazingly compelling -- that a studio can take the Torque Shader Engine, build a game on the PC side on a shoe string budget and have phenomenal success in the downloadable space."

 
Apple cell phones?

DigiTimes is reporting that Apple may just by-pass Motorola altogether on the handset front, & launch their own. They've apparently already contacted the big names of the industry looking for cooperation for production....

"As part of its preparation for the anticipated onslaught of music capable handsets, Sony Ericsson yesterday launched its Walkman handset, the W810i, in the Taiwan market."
