Viewsonic's new widescreen iPod dock LCD
Written by t-readyroc
Wednesday, 13 September 2006

File this one into the "just-in-case-you're-incredibly-lazy" file. Yes, it looks cool, but c'mon... If it were so difficult to plug your iPod into your PC in the first place, would Apple be in fat-city right now because of it? I don't think so...

"First, you can use the dock just like a standard dock, to synch and charge your iPod. But the real news comes from the connection's other purpose - a direct connection to use the monitor as the iPod's display, letting you just plop your iPod in to watch some videos."

More random shutdowns plague AM2 users
Written by t-readyroc
Thursday, 07 September 2006

I know my co-worker's suffering from the same issues reported by the Inq here, & he owns an ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe Wireless Edition. The random shut-downs have forced him to swap out every component in his system in search of the culprit, & the only thing left is the motherboard. I'd say, though, that since this issue appears to be a cross-manufacturer one, we may be looking at an unstable nForce5 chipset...

"After discussing the matter with several owners of K9N Ultra and K9N Platinum motherboards, both powered by an nForce5 570 chipset - we learned that there are several active problems on the motherboards themselves. All the problems that owners are complaining about result in the same thing: a random shutdown of the system."

Corsair's Dominator RAM at LegitReviews

Wednesday, 30 August 2006

The LegitReviews gang has been able to interview the guys at Corsair about their new "Dominator" line of RAM. If, like me, you're wondering what this RAM is all about besides some funky fin heatsinks, you'll want to give this article a look.

"In case you missed it on Monday Corsair Memory unveiled the latest innovation in high performance module design, Dual-path Heat Xchange (DHX) technology. From the outside it looks like Corsair changed their heat spreader, but it's a bit more complex than a minor heat spreader switch!"

Playing PSP in your car = "suspicious activity"
Written by t-readyroc
Friday, 25 August 2006

"Robert A." at PSP3D has posted an article that tells his story of being handcuffed & searched for "suspicious activity" while playing his PSP in his car in D.C. He goes on to wonder whether the PSP could be used as an inconspicuous device for hacking networks, & whether the rights of the individual could be compromised by such a threat.

"So I replied and explained my situation, that I was early heading to a nightclub, and wanted to feed my addiction to a new game I had just bought. He didn't buy it. Not one bit at that."
